Easter is on the horizon, but forget the eggs - it's Dubai-style chocolate that's taking the confectionery world by storm this spring. UK retailers have gone as far as to impose purchase limits for customers trying to stockpile these pistachio and crispy kadayif-filled treats, as demand surged following hundreds of thousands of TikTok posts from fans eager to try them.
Earlier in the year, Lindt launched their own £10 version of the bars, which promptly sold out both in-store and online. These iconic bars are back in stock this week, with a strict limit of two bars per person. However, we've discovered a method for savvy shoppers to nab two bars for less than £5 - making them even more affordable than the alternatives Lidl customers have been queuing for hours to get their hands on.
Money saving site TopCashback offers new members a free £15 bonus when they sign up and then give them a percentage of their spend back every time they shop online with thousands of different retailers. Shoppers using that sign up deal at Lindt's online store to buy two of the 145g bars for £10 each can effectively pay just £4.83 for the chocolate after cashback. This is a chunky saving compared to the £7.98 that two smaller 122g bars cost at Lidl for Plus Card customers lucky enough to find them them in store, reports the Mirror.

The excitement surrounding Dubai chocolate has led to long queues and sell-outs in supermarkets in recent months. There's even been a surge in 'taste tourism', with food enthusiasts sparking a 38% increase in holiday bookings to Dubai this week compared to the same period in 2024, according to travel firm Destination2, with the operator reducing prices by up to 55% on breaks at the Grand Hyatt Dubai to entice potential food influencers further to book.
Chocolate lovers on social media are praising the combination of pistachio with crunchy knafeh - or finely shredded filo pastry - which pairs with the chocolate to create the ultimate crunchy yet creamy taste. Waitrose, Ocado and Sainsburys have all had limited stock of Lindt's version of the Dubai chocolate over the past few weeks, with shoppers flocking to Facebook groups to try and help locate branches that had them in store.
Meanwhile, on Amazon, lesser-known chocolate brands are also selling versions of the treat although some of them have low star ratings based on reader reviews. The most popular options on the internet giant's site currently include unbranded 200g bars being sold for £15.98 each which have an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 based on 147 reviews and Eastanbul's Dubai chocolate which is £21.99 for a 70g bar and has a rating of 3.7 out of 5.

On the Lindt website, in comparison, more than 100 shoppers have given Dubai chocolate an average rating of 4.1 stars out of 5, with 79% of shoppers saying they'd recommend the bars. One customer said: "I expected this chocolate to be good, but oh boy this stuff is ridiculous. I only recommend buying this if you have Olympic levels of self control. Fabulous chocolate with a crunchy middle layer and gorgeous pistachios. A revelation."
Another described it as 'the best chocolate I've ever had,' before stating: "Amazing chocolate, like nothing I have ever tasted before. My sister and mother both agreed it was the best chocolate they had ever tried. I will definitely be reordering when it is restocked."
A third left a jokily described it as 'pricey but nicey' before adding: "Expensive, but a worthwhile treat for a special occasion."
However, a number of shoppers pointed out that the bar was not as thick as the traditional Dubai chocolate known for its abundant filling. A disappointed one-star reviewer pointed out: "The pistachio and kadayif quantity is very low. I am from Dubai and Dubai viral chocolate is in the limelight because of the taste of the kunefa but here the quantity is too low. Make it thick."
